In the misty Appalachian town of Briar’s Hollow, candle maker Sable Moon believes every scent tells a story.
Most are harmless… but others, quite deadly.
A customer unexpectedly returns an unscented meditation candle, insisting it carries the unmistakable fragrance of lavender. But Sable dismisses it as imagination. Days later, the same scent turns up at the scene of a suspicious death, leaving the town deeply shaken.
The victim, a respected local historian, is found peacefully seated in his study, slumped over his desk, quite dead. This leaves police convinced that natural causes explain it all. Then whispers begin spreading through Briar’s Hollow. Rumors hint that important documents have gone missing. Something about ancient land claims and secrets darker than the deep mountain hollows.
Unwilling to ignore the strange connection between her candles and the crime scene, Sable begins investigating. Following a trail of barely-there lavender traces, altered candle batches, and long-forgotten family feuds, she discovers someone may be using scent itself as a weapon. And as a way to conceal generations-old truths.
Now Sable races to uncover who is manipulating her creations before another secret becomes buried forever.
Because in Briar’s Hollow, every fragrance lingers.
